Ion Transport through the Enamel Organ-An Update
J.W. Bawden, M.A. Crenshaw, Y. Takano, L. Hammarström
A review of published studies of uptake of various ions in developing enamel in vivo, and related investigations conducted in vitro on the role of the enamel organ in such uptake, suggest that the environment of the forming enamel is tightly controlled by the enamel organ. A new hypothesis is proposed concerning fluoride uptake during enamel formation.
