The application of nanotechnology in the construction industry is a new field with many capabilities. Currently, with the development of research on the application of nanomaterials in concrete, it has become more obvious and the volume of investment in this field is increasing every year. Nanotechnology is the recognition and control of the application of matter in dimensions of 1–100 nm. At this scale, the physical, chemical, and biological properties of materials are completely different from the properties of molecules or the properties of the mass of the material. The most widely used nanomaterials in the construction and concrete industry are currently nanosilica, nano‐iron oxide, nanoaluminum oxide and nanotitanium oxide, which, according to the research conducted, improve the performance of concrete in many physical and mechanical properties, especially compressive strength, permeability and abrasion resistance of concrete. In this research, the effect of replacing nanosilica alone and with nanoiron oxide with different percentages on compressive strength, abrasion and permeability has been investigated. Based on the results, adding 4% nanosilica provides the highest compressive and abrasion resistance, but replacing 2% of the nanomaterial simultaneously has a greater effect on the mechanical properties of concrete. In addition, adding nanosilica has an increasing effect on reducing the permeability of concrete, and this reducing effect continues until replacing 8% nanosilica.
