Investigating the Development Patterns of Agility Literature with Co-Word Analysis 1990-2023

Due to the corrosive effects of changes in the environment on competitive advantage, businesses seek to be proactive in the face of change. Being proactive is about constantly monitoring the environment and adapting quickly to anticipated changes. This building of proactivity against uncertainty and fluctuations in the environment is linked to agility. Therefore, efforts to understand the concept of agility are intensifying both theoretically and practically. However, there is no study that addresses the change in the development patterns of the agility literature, which has a dynamic structure, over time. In this study, co-word analysis (henceforth CWA), one of the bibliometric analysis techniques, was conducted to examine the change in the development patterns of agility literature. For the CWA, a review of the internationally recognized Web of Science database was deemed appropriate. The findings show that the use of agile is expanding from the software industry to other sectors. It is also noted that with the spread of use, the concept has undergone various nomenclature and is defined as a competence. As the research area of agility continues to expand, it brings new areas of study to the fore in the light of the discussions in the literature.
