Introduction to this special section: Low-cost monitoring for oil and gas production and emerging energies

Members know the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG) through its conferences, publications, technical programs, and student initiatives. Less visible is the philanthropic support stewarded by the SEG Foundation that strengthens these efforts. In many ways, the Foundation is the quiet “engine that could” behind the SEG programs our membership community relies on every year. As SEG designs and delivers these programs the Foundation functions alongside as a silent philanthropic partner, finding and working with donors to channel charitable support into global initiatives that amplify the Society’s impact.
