Introduction to the Special Issue on Integrating Large Language Models and Knowledge Graphs for Generative AI

This article introduces the ACM Transactions on Intelligent Systems and Technology special issue on Integrating Large Language Models and Knowledge Graphs for Generative AI. The eight papers in this issue collectively examine how large language models and knowledge graphs can complement each other, from understanding the limits of implicit knowledge in language models, to using language models for knowledge graph construction and enrichment, to using knowledge graphs for grounded reasoning, retrieval, and high-value domain applications.
