The article examines the agency of Rizzo de Marino, a political and diplomatic actor who was active between the kingdom of Cyprus, the kingdom of Naples and the Mamluk Sultanate. By analysing the network of relations that he was able to establish and maintain, the essay reconstructs the events in which he played a central part, chiefly connected with the Neapolitan king Ferrante’s attempt to assert control over Cyprus. The rather exceptional role of de Marino lies in the fact that he served not only the Cypriot and Aragonese courts, but also the Mamluk sultan.
