Pulmonary artery ECs from PAH patients display reduced oxidative phosphorylation and increased anabolic and pro‐proliferative effects (“Warburg phenomenon”). TEPP‐46 (allosteric stabilizer of tetrameric PKM2) has beneficial effects in wild‐type and BMPR2‐mutation bearing BOECs, ameliorates the increased right ventricular systolic pressures, and improves survival in Sugen‐hypoxia‐exposed rats. Antagonizing the Warburg effect may offer novel therapeutic options for PAH.
