Abstract

Internet Decolonized brings together a collection of cutting-edge essays that examine the internet and its governance from a range of decolonizing perspectives. Contributors write as part of Indigenous communities, as part of the Majority World, and from Global South regions, considering what it means to “decolonize the internet” in light of pasts, presents, and futures. The volume introduces real-life cases from an emerging research field, long-standing policy and activist domains at the online-offline nexus. Authors are active in shaping scholarly, technological, economic and political agendas at the intersection of internet (governance) research, internet and digital technology (public) policy, social justice movements, and human rights advocacy. The volume comprises 14 chapters and is organized in three parts; histories, actions, and futures.
