To evaluate postoperative visual outcomes at distance, intermediate, and near and determine correlation between intermediate and near vision following implantation of an advanced monofocal aspheric Swiss Phob intraocular lens (IOL).
Methods:
This retrospective observational study included 60 eyes of 30 patients who underwent bilateral cataract surgery with Swiss Phob IOL implantation before May 2024. Postoperative evaluation at 6–12 months included uncorrected distance (UDVA), intermediate (UIVA), and near visual acuity (UNVA). Subgroup analysis based on UIVA and UNVA outcomes and correlation analysis were performed. Contrast sensitivity (CS) and defocus curves were assessed.
Results:
Mean UDVA improved from 0.60 ± 0.31 to 0.22 ± 0.12 logMAR (
Conclusion:
The Swiss Phob advanced monofocal IOL provides good distance and intermediate visual acuity with functional near vision. The significant reciprocal association between uncorrected intermediate and near visual acuity suggests an extended range of functional vision across intermediate and near distances.
