Integrated approaches to health, including Planetary Health, One Health, and EcoHealth, are essential for effectively engaging with challenges related to social-ecological health in today’s world. One recent article bringing the integrated approaches to health together in one conversation is Zinsstag
et al
.’s “Integrated approaches to health: A paradigmatic, methodological and operational comparison of EcoHealth, One Health and Planetary Health”. In this article, the authors clarify definitions and offer resources for translating these approaches into policy and practice. Planetary Health received somewhat less attention in their comparison, so this comment aims to be a companion to their article, offering additional sources and nuance on Planetary Health in relationship with their evaluation of the fields’ transdisciplinarity, ecosystemic nature, epistemological openness, and philosophy. We conclude by calling for greater integration between Planetary Health, One Health, and EcoHealth and offer potential pathways for their convergence.
One Health impact statement
One Health is evolving alongside other integrated approaches to health including Planetary Health and EcoHealth, and the three approaches have increasingly converged in their definitions, approaches, and conceptual frames. Zinsstag

) “Integrated approaches to health: A paradigmatic, methodological and operational comparison of EcoHealth, One Health and Planetary Health” examines the philosophies, paradigms, and methods associated with each approach. Building on their work, our commentary highlights additional dimensions of Planetary Health research and practice that may further enrich the comparison, reflect the breadth of scholarship in this evolving field, and offer further opportunities for convergence of the integrated approaches to health.
