Institutional Administrative Practices of Social Responsibility in Universities: A Study From Academic Leaders’ Perspective
Adel Ayed AlshammariThis study analyzed the institutional administrative practices of social responsibility (SR) in Saudi public universities to highlight their alignment with global trends in sustainable university governance. A descriptive survey design was used to collect data from 107 senior academic leaders across three major universities in Riyadh, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential tests (t-test and one-way analysis of variance). The findings revealed that while SR practices are generally effective, with an overall mean score of 3.79 on a five-point Likert scale, they remain at a formative stage, characterized by limited institutional integration and strategic alignment. The ethical and societal dimensions ranked highest, whereas the administrative and Procedural dimension scored lowest. The study contributes to international scholarship by framing SR as an institutional governance function that bridges local priorities with global sustainability and higher education reforms.
