Influence of zirconia phosphate concrete structure on refractory installations thermal durability

Andriy Nagorniy, Mykyta Nahornyi

Abstract

The most widely used in composite materials industry are concrete installations bonded with different binders. However, their production is increasingly constrained by high energy consumption and significant environmental concerns, which collectively contribute to rising manufacturing costs. The growing demand for materials with superior refractory performance have intensified the search for cost‐effective and innovative materials with tailored properties.

Extensive scientific research over recent decades has led to the development of an alternative and technologically advanced manufacturing process based on binding suspensions. Studies in composite material technology demonstrate that, compared with conventional materials, composites possessing ultradispersed microstructures exhibit several‐fold increases in microhardness and a substantial enlargement of specific surface area. These characteristics facilitate a reduction in sintering temperature.
