Inequitable Distribution: The Healthcare Workforce Disparity Facing Regional, Rural and Remote Communities

ABSTRACT

The inequitable distribution of healthcare resources between metropolitan and regional, rural and remote (RRR) areas continues to present challenges. Previous research has identified factors likely influencing medical student decisions to practice outside metropolitan areas, including rural origin and rural training rotations. This issue of Trainee Focus will focus on exploring RRR training opportunities and new training requirements for ACEM trainees.
