Inauguration to Spiral-Polar Experience

Pasi Heikkurinen

Abstract

Chapter 5 delivers an account of the so-called spiral-polar experience, which describes the experience of being in the edifice, conceptualized as a pole with two opposing ends, like our experiences do. In this experience, the internal and external registers converge. Being alive locates in the oscillation between the two poles—or extremes—of experience, but it is not merely dichotomous or dualistic; there is a spin in the edifice that offers other dimensions to the conventionally considered dialectics of being. Beginnings and endings in the process are discussed and also the importance of developing a new grand narrative of our process.
