Inadvertent intracameral descent of deep impacted metallic corneal foreign body decoded: A case report
Ashok Sharma, Rajan SharmaA 28-year-old man presented with a deep stromal metallic foreign body (MFB) in OD. Removal of the MFB using an external approach was unsuccessful. An ab-interno approach, pushing the MFB from the endothelial side and removal from outside also failed. During this maneuver, the MFB inadvertently descended intracameral. The MFB was grasped with vitreoretinal foreign body forceps; it was gradually withdrawn, and the foreign body was removed. Moxifloxacin 0.5% four times, prednisolone 1% four times, and homide 1% three times a day were instilled. The postoperative period was uneventful and achieved a best-corrected visual acuity of 20/30. The irregular border of the MFB caused failure to remove externally and its inadvertent intracameral descent.
