Abstract

„In Ius et Proprietatem Beati Petri“. Three Unpublished Donations (12th-Century) from the Archivio di Castel Sant’Angelo (Vatican Apostolic Archives). This paper presents three hitherto unpublished 12th-century medieval parchments from the Archivio di Castel Sant’Angelo (Vatican Apostolic Archives) recording donations made to the Vatican Basilica or the Papacy in Rome. The edition is preceded by an introduction that examines both the documents’ extrinsic characteristics (palaeographical and diplomatic) and their historical context, aimed at highlighting the probable political motivations for these acts of generosity.
