The aim of this study was to determine the effect of hydrogel combined with mineral fertilizers on the growth and yield of Cicer arietinum L. cultivated in the arid sandy soils of the dried Aral Sea region. Soil samples for the experiment were collected from the desiccated part of the Aral Sea. As a result, soils amended with 60 kg ha⁻¹ of hydrogel combined with mineral fertilizers showed statistically significant differences in the vegetative and generative traits of plants compared to the control group, whereas no marked differences were observed at the 45 and 90 kg ha⁻¹ application rates.
