Implementing the Digital Transfer of Records from Public Institutions: The Experience of the National Archives of Chile

The Electronic Archives of the National Archives of Chile has created a digital platform to receive electronic records from public institutions, and a series of documents to explain the new procedures and requirements to carry out this process. However, implementing the digital transfer of records has been much slower than expected. The Electronic Archives team has encountered a series of challenges that have forced a series of changes in the initial methodology and strategies to approach public institutions and increase transfer rates. This article discusses how the work has been adapted, the current results and efforts to achieve the Electronic Archives mission, and reflections on the relationship between records management, digital transfer, and digital transformation in Chile.
