Implementation of physical education in music teaching based on folk dances from Kosovo and Metohija: A historical-didactic-methodological approach

The aim is to determine which of these folk dances can be applied in music education, and which knowledge, skills, and abilities can be developed through them. In order to understand the meaning and importance of physical education, the paper analyzes the views and concepts of key educators throughout the history of pedagogy regarding this area, considers the importance of folk dances, and indicates the possibilities of their application in teaching. It has been established that folk dances from Kosovo and Metohija can serve as valuable educational content and that their use in teaching contributes to the introduction to, cultivation of, and preservation of the folk musical heritage of Kosovo and Metohija, as well as to achieving the goals of national, physical, and music education. Therefore, it is necessary to pay greater attention to these folk dances with singing in teaching, to familiarize educators, class teachers, and music teachers with their educational and cultural values, and to encourage them to use appropriate examples to more successfully achieve the tasks of the national education strategy.
