Background:
Restoring teeth with implants has become the treatment of choice to reduce the adverse effects of tooth loss. Injectable platelet-rich fibrin (i-PRF), an autologous platelet concentrate rich in growth factors, has recently gained attention for its potential to enhance osseointegration, accelerate healing and reduce crestal bone loss around dental implants.
Materials and Methods:
Twenty patients were randomised into Group I (Test) treated with i-PRF-coated implants and Group II (Control) without i-PRF coating. Implant stability quotient (ISQ) values and crestal bone evaluation were obtained at baseline and three months in both groups.
Results:
Mean overall ISQ values of Group I at baseline and 3 months were 68.10 ± 3.73 and 70.60 ± 2.84, respectively. No statistical significance in overall crestal bone levels between Group I and Group II at baseline (
Conclusion:
Conditioning of the implant surface using autologous i-PRF could enhance resonance frequency analysis at 3-month evaluation but does not have an influence on the bone level.
