IMPACT OF WORKING FROM HOME ON STAFF MOTIVATION AND PRODUCTIVITY DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC: PHENOMENOLOGICAL STUDY

Background: Working from home is a universal trend and common way of working in the West. However, it is rather a new concept in the developing country that has been newly applied because of COVID-19. Objectives: This study intended to explore the experience of the staff working from home for the rst time and assess how it has affected their motivation and productivity towards their responsibilities. Method: Hermeneutic Phenomenological approach: 25 staff (teaching and administrative staff) were interviewed using purposive sampling. Interpretive Phenomenological Analysis was utilized to analyze the data collected. The results indicated that working from home has positive and negative inuences on the motivation and productivity of the employees. The ndings also highlighted some aspects to be considered for rening working from home experience.
