Impact of Player Age on Team Statistics in the National Football League

We composed a model using dependent and explanatory variables in an effort to determine the correlation between player age and the performance of the team in various statistical departments. The regression model that we developed has determined that a correlation between age and statistical impact does exist. The statistics that showed statistical significance in relation to age included team turnovers, injuries, touchdowns, as well as team passing and rushing yards. After obtaining these explanatory variables, we conducted a regression using the snap weighted age of the team as our independent variable.Our model reported age has an impact on the performance of teams throughout the season, focusing on the explanatory variables that were chosen. Previous research assists in the understanding of this model; however, limitations exist based on the amount of data that has been collected regarding this analysis of information. With this model, we seek to provide additional data that may lead to assisting in expanding the overall understanding of research in future models regarding this specific topic.
