Impact of NCS-Based Retail Training in Beauty Retail Companies on Sales Employees’ Job Satisfaction and Sales Performance

So-Youn Lim, Whi-Do Jung

With the rapid growth of K-beauty, the number of sales employees in domestic and international beauty retail companies in Korea has expanded accordingly. However, compared to the quantitative expansion of companies, field-oriented job training for sales employees remains insufficient. This study aimed to design and validate an educational program for beauty retail companies based on the National Competency Standards(NCS). An online survey was conducted over one month, from July to August, with 248 sales employees of a beauty retail company. Using SPSS 21.0, EFA was performed, and CFA with AMOS 21.0 was conducted to assess reliability and validity. Hypotheses were tested through regression analysis, and mediating effects were examined using bootstrap and multiple regression. The empirical results confirmed three findings: First, NCS-based beauty retail training positively influenced job satisfaction; second, job satisfaction significantly affected sales performance; and lastly, job satisfaction played a partial mediating role. Moreover, NCS-based beauty retail training impacted sales performance both directly and indirectly, with sales-oriented training showing the strongest effect. This study highlights that strengthening field-based competencies is a key factor in enhancing training effectiveness and suggests that practical competency development directly linked to sales activities is expected to enhance corporate competitiveness.
