Impact of Indian Knowledge Systems on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Kalpana BhattThe Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined by the United Nations (UN) in 2015 are a global call to action to achieve a better, more sustainable future for all. They include targets in areas such as poverty eradication, education, gender equality, clean water, and climate action. India, with its rich heritage of ancient knowledge systems, has a unique opportunity to integrate traditional wisdom with contemporary development practices to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. This paper explores the impact of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), including ancient philosophy, traditional ecological knowledge, sustainable agricultural practices, and indigenous health systems, on the realization of the SDGs.
