Edgar Allan Poe’s stories and poems are timeless pieces of human emotion and gothic elements. Poe’s versatility and mass appeal have inspired many creators’ cinematic vision and journey. Mike Flanagan’s 2023 Netflix miniseries approaches the gothic in Poe’s tale with the much-required caution. It doesn’t replicate the obsolete themes but rather blends the modern with these old tales to make a product that can justify Poe’s name. This paper, “Identifying and Outlining Influence of Edgar Allan Poe’s Short Stories on Flanagan’s Fall of the House of Usher,” attempts to trace Poe’s influence on Flanagan’s series by analyzing each episode of the series. A comparison of Poe and Flanagan’s work is done to showcase how each of these served justice to their characters and plot. The modern-day adaptation of Poe’s work by Flanagan has proved essential and productive for the spread of literature. It also reveals the lasting relevance and adaptability of Gothic works and the ability of such works to embody the conventional and hidden trepidations of the cultures over the years.
