How is artificial intelligence changing the daily work of therapists? A review of global and Russian experience
E.S. Gerasimova, T.S. Vorobyeva, O.V. Kazaeva, V.V. PashkovaDigital transformation of healthcare using artificial intelligence is currently a trend in medical industry. The article discusses national and foreign developments in artificial intelligence for maintaining medical records. They make it possible to predict hospitalizations in patients with chronic diseases. This contributes to higher effectiveness of preventive measures and better quality of life. Neural network-based analysis of patients with multiple morbidities is valuable to avoid polypharmacy and reduce healthcare costs. Artificial intelligence was described for lung auscultation and analysis of appropriate data (sensitivity 98.99%). The Aida diagnostic assistant for internists demonstrated 87% accuracy in diagnosis. It was implemented in Moscow polyclinics as a powerful tool for decision making. The chatbots being developed advise patients on lifestyle and therapy issues increasing their compliance. The Digital FAP complex based on artificial intelligence from SberMedAI, tested in the Murmansk region in 2022, allows residents of remote regions to receive timely medical care. Potential prospects for clinicians, their patients, and healthcare system as a whole, as well as AI-associated limitations, such as information security and ethical constraints, are considered. Wider introduction of artificial intelligence into the work of internists can accelerate diagnostic searching, increase validity of treatment and availability of medical services. At the same time, artificial intelligence should be considered as an assistant of clinicians not replacing treatment process.
