How Does Authentic Leadership Affect Perceived School Effectiveness? The Moderating Role of Teacher Professional Collaboration

Mehmet Sabir Çevik
Although the effect of authentic leadership on perceived school effectiveness is recognized, how this relationship changes depending on teachers’ professional collaboration has been insufficiently examined. This study aims to determine the moderating role of teacher professional collaboration in the relationship between authentic leadership and perceived school effectiveness. The research was conducted with 385 teachers working in high schools in Siirt, Türkiye, using a cross-sectional design and convenience sampling. Correlation analysis revealed positive and significant relationships among authentic leadership, professional collaboration, and perceived school effectiveness. Moderation analysis showed that teacher professional collaboration appears to strengthen the relationship between authentic leadership and perceived school effectiveness. Specifically, when professional collaboration among teachers is at moderate and high levels, the positive association between authentic leadership and perceived school effectiveness becomes stronger. These findings suggest that supporting teacher collaboration may be associated with enhanced teachers’ perceptions of school effectiveness.
