Research results and conclusions. The study established that the main subject field of V.K. Pichugina's research is the history of pedagogical culture, within which many ways of perceiving, describing, and reconstructing the pedagogical reality of the past require methodological renewal. Significant results have been obtained in the following research directions: historical-pedagogical and historical-anthropological study of the phenomenon of "care of the self"; the history and anthropology of educational urbanism; the history of curricula from different eras; the history of ancient theater as a school on stage; and pedagogical anthology as a form of historical memory. The scholar is actively working to popularize the ancient pedagogical heritage of the past and publishes a unique thematic journal on the history of pedagogical culture, Hypothekai. The results of many years of research enrich not only research practice with new methodological approaches and corresponding tools, but also educational practice with an understanding of the logic of development of educational institutions and the genesis of phenomena significant to the history of pedagogical culture. V.K. Pichugina can be considered among the leading historians of pedagogy in contemporary Russia.
