Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Uric Acid Detection With Synergistic Integration of Exfoliated WS 2 Nanosheets and Ti 3 CN MXene
Sanchita Sharma, Dalal Nasser Binjawhar, Vineet Bhardwaj, Abhishek Awasthi, Kamal Kishor ThakurBeing an important biomarker for metabolic and renal disorders associated with hyperuricemia and hypouricemia, electrochemical determination of uric acid (UA) is clinically important. Herein, we synthesized a novel WS 2 /Ti 3 CN (WSTCN) nanocomposite by a fast microwave‐assisted method to construct as a nonenzymatic electrochemical sensing platform for UA detection. Structural and morphological characterizations confirmed the successful incorporation of conductive Ti 3 CN MXene with exfoliated WS 2 nanosheets, which contributes to the increase in electroactive surface area as well as improved kinetics of charge transfer. Comparatively, the electrocatalytic activity of UA oxidation at WSTCN‐15@GCE was comparable to other common electroactive materials in Britton–Robinson buffer (pH 5.5). The sensor exhibited a large linear detection range of 1–110 μM, sensitivity of 0.47 μA μM −1 cm −2 , and low detection limit (0.26 μM) under optimal conditions in addition to exhibiting good selectivity, repeatability, and long‐term stability against common interfering species. The results of recovery studies conducted in human serum samples showed recoveries ranging from 95.8% to 102.08% with low RSD values, all of which support the reliable and practical utilization of WSTCN nanocomposite for UA sensing in biomedical applications.
