Abstract

High-entropy strategies offer an effective route to tailoring advanced materials. Their extension to organic systems introduces more diverse entropy contributions due to complex molecular structures and intermolecular interactions. Though the general design principles of high-entropy organic systems have not yet been fully established, recent advances have demonstrated their potential for functional devices. In this review, high-entropy strategies in organic systems are defined as approaches that utilize one or more entropy contributions, including configurational, conformational, topological, and solvent entropy, to regulate structural organization and functional behavior. Construction strategies based on physical blending, molecular engineering, and assisted assembly are systematically summarized for different material systems. Recent progress in energy storage, optoelectronic conversion, and flexible electronics is discussed, with emphasis on the effects of high-entropy strategies on material properties and device performance. Finally, critical challenges and future opportunities are discussed to guide the rational development of high-entropy strategies in organic systems.
