Staphylococcus aureus ( S. aureus ) bacteria are often observed across human skin as well as inside the nasal cavity, typically coexist with the body but can become a harmful pathogen responsible for various infections. A PCF–based biosensor is developed in COMSOL Multiphysics for bacterial sensing. The sensor design is analyzed in THz spectrum, while Zeonex is employed as the base material owing to its superior characteristics in THz frequency. A range of sensing parameters was examined, such as the core‐power‐fraction, relative sensitivity (RS), birefringence, effective area, and so on. To detect S. aureus accurately, we present a PCF‐based biosensor with rectangular holes in both core and cladding region which ensures strong confinement of terahertz radiation. When operated at 3.00 THz, the sensor provides a RS of 89.14%. With negligible effective material loss (i.e., 0.01294 cm −1 ) and extremely low confinement loss (i.e., 2.912×10 − 15 cm −1 ), the sensor ensures both efficiency and reliability. Considering these performance characteristics, the sensor's simple PCF design indicates that it can be deployed with ease.
