“Great Things Are Seen From a Distance”: the Unification of Germany in Interpretations, Studies, and Assessments of the 2000s
Boris PetelinThe unification of Germany is not an ordinary event, and over the years, hundreds of significant scientific works, countless comments, assessments, and speeches have been published by both experts and amateurs who are unfamiliar with the German issue. This article examines and analyzes various sources, interpretations by publicists, bloggers, and historians who have contributed to the coverage of the process of German unification. It also includes documentary materials about meetings and negotiations, as well as the recollections of prominent politicians, diplomats, and participants in those events, both from Russia and abroad.
