Glomus tumor of the male nipple: A rare case and review of the literature
Luke B. Elias, Robert A. Schwartz, David I. Suster, Ravi J. ChokshiGlomus tumors are benign mesenchymal neoplasms arising from modified smooth muscle cells of the glomus body. They most commonly occur in the subungual regions of the digits, while involvement of the breast or nipple is exceedingly unusual. We report a case of a 42-year-old man with an asymptomatic glomus tumor of the right nipple, treated by local excision. Diagnosis was established by characteristic histologic features and smooth muscle actin positivity. This case adds to the limited reports of nipple glomus tumors in men and highlights the importance of considering glomus tumors in men with unusual nipple lesions.
