Giant Mesenteric Cyst Successfully Managed Laparoscopically: A Case Report and Review of Literature

Abstract

Mesenteric cysts (MCs) are uncommon benign intra-abdominal lesions with variable clinical presentation, often posing a diagnostic challenge. Giant MCs are rare, and laparoscopic management can be technically demanding. We report a case of a 38-year-old male presenting with pain and a large lump in the abdomen. Computed tomography imaging revealed a large MC. The patient underwent successful laparoscopic excision after controlled aspiration of cyst contents without spillage. The postoperative course was uneventful, and the patient was discharged on postoperative day 3. Laparoscopic excision of giant MCs is feasible and safe in experienced hands, offering the advantages of minimal invasiveness, reduced postoperative pain, and early recovery.
