GHOSTS!

Authors not available
Ghosts unsettle the boundaries between presence and absence, fact and fiction, remembrance and forgetting. They may emerge from superstition or uncertain memory, but they can also give form to histories suppressed, experiences overlooked, and truths excluded from official accounts.Bringing together perspectives from literature, religion, folklore, history, and popular culture, GHOSTS! explores Victorian spiritualism, Irish folklore, Taiwanese historical memory, spectral encounters in the Talmud, Persian mythology, and Yorùbá spiritual traditions in Brazil. Its essays also examine haunting in contemporary fiction, theater, and television.Together, these studies ask what ghosts reveal about the limits of knowledge—and what returns when the past refuses to remain absent.
