ABSTRACT

This study examines how dynamic capabilities influence supply chain management in SMEs during systemic crises. A literature review identifies key strategies used by Canadian SMEs to enhance resilience, such as inventory increases, production adjustments, supplier diversification and product adaptation. The study focuses on two dynamic capabilities—collaborative interaction and organizational agility—and their impact on these strategies. A survey of 299 Canadian manufacturing SMEs, using partial least squares structural equation modeling, reveals the critical role of these capabilities in proactive risk management. The findings highlight the importance of sustainable supplier relationships and organizational agility in managing supply risks, offering both theoretical and practical insights for fostering supply chain resilience during crises.
