Głos Kobiet: Feminist antifascism in socialist women’s periodical press in interwar Poland

Jelena Veselinovic

This paper analyzes Głos Kobiet, the official journal of Women’s Section of the Polish Socialist Party, as an intratextual field in which feminist and anti-fascist counterpublic is articulated in interwar Poland. Focusing on the fifth issue from September-October 1935, the study demonstrates how paratextual signaling and the transposition of dominant narrative elements produce a new system of values and meanings. Furthermore, it examines how the magazine functions as a site for negotiating the boundaries between the private and the public, politicizing women’s subjective experiences, and articulating the figure of the woman as an active political subject.
