Europe needs a digital bridge between exposure assessment, validated operating envelopes and the application actually performed, according to Jens Karl Wegener at the Julius Kühn Institute in Germany. Modern application technology is no longer defined by a machine alone. Its performance depends on hardware, software, operating parameters, field conditions and spatial decisions made during operation. This creates a regulatory challenge: how can an exposure assessment developed before authorisation be translated into conditions that remain valid, enforceable and verifiable during a differentiated field application?
