It introduces the concept of the Seismic Resilience Index and details its application through functionality and time recovery curves that capture post-earthquake performance and recovery dynamics. The chapter reviews key indicators and probabilistic models used to quantify resilience at both community and single-building scales, incorporating direct and indirect loss functions. Special emphasis is placed on methodologies for assessing the seismic resilience of reinforced concrete buildings. The case studies highlight the real-world uses of these concepts, with an emphasis on how they were put into practice in Malaysia. This chapter sheds light on how to measure, evaluate, and enhance community resilience against seismic hazards by combining theoretical models with real-world experiences.
