Such terms as «fragile state» and «failed state» continue to be widely used by academic community, state officials and international organizations. However, the explanatory potential of these definitions remains very low, and their political bias is high. They became an integral part of the concept of «nation-building», so spread over the background of the US military interventions of the 1990s and 2000s. «Hybrid peace-building» was an attempt to comprehend the principles and consequences of supporting state institutions after the US failed experience in «nation-building» in the Middle East and Central Asia. However, the concept is not free of both theoretical and practical flaws. Its main thrust is now feminist peace-building. United States orients on providing aid to countries with low ranking in international gender equality ratings. This approach makes it easier to demonstrate results and allows the US establishment to rely on strengthening internal political capital.
