Forecasting-information-based strategy for independent energy storage systems in secondary frequency regulation control
Qingxiang Xu, Wei Teng, Chen Chen, Shaofeng Han, Yibing LiuWith its rapid response time, high regulation rate, and precise regulation accuracy, significant potential is shown to be held by energy storage systems (ESS) in the field of frequency regulation ancillary services. This study proposes a novel scheduling and control strategy for independent ESS (IESS) to support secondary frequency regulation in power grid operations. By equivalent load forecasting, dynamic transition is achieved between conventional regulation and reserve charge–discharge operation modes of IESS. The results demonstrate that the proposed strategy optimizes the state of charge levels during the operation of IESS, thereby effectively reducing their capacity configuration requirements. Moreover, by reserving power in advance of fluctuations, the strategy enhances the profitability potential of IESS while improving frequency stability. This study responds to the requirements of intelligent and information-oriented transformation under the evolution of the new power system, enhancing the flexibility and stability of the power grid.
