Fluorescent Metal Nanoclusters for Diagnostic and Therapeutic Applications

Jiahuan Zheng, Kaisong Yuan, Shaoqi Chen

Fluorescent metal nanoclusters (MNCs) are a class of emerging nanomaterials with precise structures and excellent luminescence properties. Due to their precise size and structure, molecular-like characteristics, large stokes shift, easily functionalized surfaces, excellent biocompatibility, and photostability, MNCs are involved in the development of diagnostic and therapeutic applications. This chapter contributes to introducing MNCs. First, the synthesis methods of MNCs are introduced. Then, the applications of disease diagnosis and therapy are illustrated in the subsequent sections. Finally, we draw a conclusion and outline perspectives on the future study of MNCs.
