The evolving societal, economic, and political landscape has significantly intensified the complexity of school leadership roles, often resulting in heightened stress, workload, and challenges to wellbeing. This chapter presents findings from a qualitative study exploring the experiences of flourishing among head teachers from England’s “Growing the Top” outstanding schools, a program led by Challenge Partners. Drawing on interviews with six school leaders, the chapter describes how they perceived and experienced flourishing in their professional lives, and what supports contributed to their wellbeing. The findings revealed a range of behaviors, mindsets, personal characteristics, and contextual conditions and supports that fostered their flourishing, offering insights into how school leaders can thrive despite the pressures of their roles.
