Fish tales with a sharp twist: Hooked and pierced

Fish related ocular trauma is an uncommon yet significant cause of eye injury, often under-reported in costal and island fishing communities. Such injuries may result from direct contact with fish fins,bones or fish hooks during handling,cleaning or fishing activities. They can cause a wide spectrum of ocular damage ranging from superficial corneal abrasion to penetrating globe injuries with potential visual morbidity. We report a two rare and unusual case of fish related ocular injury. The child fish bone injury demonstrates superficial yet potentially damaging extra-ocular trauma while the adult fish hook injury highlights the risk of penetrating trauma. These case reports emphasize the need for prompt recognition and appropriate management to prevent complications.
