Fish Diversity In Manjara River (Latur) Under the Influence of Environmental Changes

Dhanshree M. Jagtap, Dnyaneshwar S. Rathod

The effect of water quality parameters such as temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), biological oxygen demand (BOD), nitrates, and phosphates on freshwater fish diversity in the Manjara River, Latur (Maharashtra, India) have been investigated. For this purpose ten sampling sites were selected. Fish diversity was quantified using Simpson's Diversity Index., The results indicated moderate to high fish diversity at various sites (D = 0.672 – 0.805). The overall findings highlighted influence of physicochemical factors on fish biodiversity.
