ABSTRACT

Stretchable electrodes are essential for next generation wearable electronics, but simultaneously achieving high conductivity, large stretchability, and long‐term reliability remains challenging. This work proposes a micro‐origami structured electrode (MOSE) that mitigates the conflicts between stretchability, conductivity and fatigue resistance. By prefabricating valley creases of origami pattern on an EcoFlex substrate, the Platinum (Pt) film/EcoFlex substrate bilayer undergoes bending deformation along the creases upon release of biaxial pre‐stretch, forming regular and controllable micro‐origami structures. Benefiting from the surface metal film, the initial conductivity reaches 19600 S·cm −1 . Furthermore, the micro‐origami structure enables the electrode to withstand biaxial tensile strains over 80%, and the high regularity of the origami structure provides excellent fatigue resistance (after 10000 cycles at 50% strain, the sheet resistance remains below 20 Ω/sq). Based on this electrode, a capacitive pressure sensor with high signal repeatability is fabricated. Utilizing the anisotropy of the micro‐origami structure, handwriting signal classification using one single small pressure sensor (approximately 2 cm 2 ) instead of large‐area sensor array is achieved, with an accuracy of 96%. The proposed MOSE provides a design route for metal‐film‐based stretchable electrodes.
