Anuchitra Rout, Bijayananda PradhanThis study evaluates the research performance and scholarly visibility of the Central University of Odisha (CUO) through a bibliometric and citation analysis of its publications indexed in Scopus during 2012–2025. A total of 209 publications were analyzed to examine trends in research productivity, authorship and collaboration patterns, preferred publication sources, document types, subject areas, citation impact, and open-access dissemination practices. The findings reveal a gradual increase in CUO’s research productivity, with a notable acceleration from 2017 and a substantial expansion from 2020 onwards. Citation analysis indicates that the majority of publications fall within the low-to-moderate citation range, while a smaller proportion demonstrates comparatively higher scholarly impact. The authorship analysis highlights the growing prevalence of collaborative research, reflecting increased scholarly interaction and institutional networking. The study also identifies a growing association with established international publishers and reputed scholarly sources, indicating the progressive integration of CUO’s research into the broader academic communication system. Furthermore, the increasing adoption of Gold and Green open-access models demonstrates a gradual shift towards wider and more accessible dissemination of research findings. Overall, the study indicates that CUO has made considerable progress in strengthening its research productivity, collaboration, scholarly visibility, and engagement with open scholarly communication. The findings provide a useful evidence base for developing institutional strategies aimed at enhancing research quality, impact, collaboration, and global academic visibility.
