Exploring Perceptual Differences between AI-Generated and Human-Created Music in Functional Emotional Applications for Mental Health

Abstract

Objective

Modern audiences generally bear persistent psychological pressure and negative emotions, leading to fluctuating mental states and suboptimal mental health. Functional music serves as a common emotional intervention method to regulate individual psychology. This study explores audience perceptual differences between AI-generated and human-created music, aiming to clarify their distinct effects on relieving psychological pressure and improving mental health.

Subjects and Methods

This study recruits participants with varying levels of daily psychological pressure as research subjects. It adopts controlled experimental tests and psychological scale assessments to collect audience perceptual feedback, mental state changes, and psychological relief effects after listening to two types of music, and compares their impacts on mental health regulation.

Results

Both AI-generated and human-created functional music can effectively ease audience psychological pressure and optimize mental states. Human-created music presents more prominent advantages in soothing negative emotions and repairing sub-health mental states, while AI-generated music shows stable and efficient effects in relieving mild daily psychological pressure.

Conclusions

Significant perceptual differences exist between the two types of music in emotional and psychological regulation. Reasonable selection of AI-generated and human-created music can targetedly alleviate different degrees of psychological pressure, stabilize individual mental states, and provide optimized paths for public mental health intervention and functional emotional application.
