Experience and prospects of using digital technologies in land management design

Ol'ga Sorokina, Dmitriy Antropov, Ellina Polovnikova

This article examines the application of digital technologies in land management design. The study aims to identify key trends and assess the level of readiness for using digital tools based on a thematic analysis of 187 scientific publications (RSCI, 2022–2026) and 64 patents. It was found that most studies focus on information support for land resource management in general, while applied developments in the field of intelligent design are fragmented. The authors' step-by-step approach allowed them to identify the core concepts of approaches to applied information support for the issue under consideration, and, on this basis, propose three areas for the application of new digital technologies: zoning using Big Data and machine learning; the creation of design services trained on archival materials; and the use of digital twins for scenario modeling. It is concluded that the regulations adopted in 2024–2025 and the development of the National Spatial Data System create the conditions for the transition to the practical implementation of intelligent land management design services. In this regard, a methodology for creating such a service is also proposed, as well as potential tools for applying digital technology to land management document preparation tasks at the current stage.
