Aims: This study aimed to determine the prevalence of dentin hypersensitivity (DH) in an adult Turkish population and to identify associated etiological and predisposing factors using clinical and questionnaire-based data. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 980 participants aged ≥18 years. Data was collected via a structured questionnaire covering sociodemographic characteristics, dietary habits, parafunctional behaviors, and medical conditions, followed by clinical examination. DH was assessed using evaporative air stimulus and tactile testing. Pain severity was recorded using a modified Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Statistical analyses included Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests, and multivariable logistic regression to identify independent predictors (p0.05). Multivariable analysis showed that gender was the only independent predictor, with males having lower odds of DH (OR=0.63; 95% CI: 0.45-0.87; p=0.005). Bruxism was significantly associated with increased severity (p=0.044).Conclusion: DH is a common condition in the adult Turkish population. Gender is an independent predictor, while bruxism is associated with symptom severity, supporting the multifactorial nature of DH.
